A few words about the project structure
08/05/2020By definition, a project is a temporary endeavor that provides a unique product or service. Its typical feature is that it is constantly being refined and improved over time.
In small and larger businesses, it is very common to deal with various types of projects. How we approach its execution is, of course, an individual matter. However, in order to facilitate this process and make it run efficiently and at the same time not cost us too much - the field of project management was developed.
In project management, structures and roles are very important to follow. In a team we are together, we all play to one goal - because although the roles are many, they all want to achieve the same goal.
Below is a simplified structure of the team, and the tasks of its individual members.
Sponsor
The person who has the resources and is the one who most often decides that a project starts - thus setting the goal. In a way, the sponsor makes the project task very easy, because he is the one who paves the way, sets the direction and, most importantly, organizes the money that will allow the project to get done.
Manager
His main role is to coordinate and supervise the team, and he also keeps an eye on the path to the goal. If there are any distractions or a drop in motivation, the project manager steps in to restore the rhythm of work.
Project team
That is, a group of people who are directly involved in the execution of the project task. It is important that the team knows the intention and purpose of the project it is dealing with. Then experts in the field can make interesting suggestions on how to proceed.
All of these roles are equally important and crucial to the project, because when one of them is missing, the project process will not run properly. Once we have a group of people who are willing to undertake the specific activities that make up the project, it is worth considering what this team needs in order to operate effectively.
Objective
Its clarification will give us a clear message of where we as a team want to go and what we want to achieve. A very important point in case of distraction - as it helps to get back on track
Plan
By definition, a very simple thing - the way in which we will achieve our goal. In practice, we are bound to encounter difficulties during its implementation. Therefore, it is important not only to develop it carefully, but also to be flexible, in case of setbacks
Systematic evaluation
Having the task of checking whether the project team and its work is moving in the right direction. This step is mandatory - because it often happens that in the course of activities on a project new responsibilities come along, we start working on another task, getting distracted and losing efficiency in the process. Regular supervision helps to keep the rhythm.
As you can see, in management both the roles and all the steps are closely intertwined while forming the foundation of a good project. However, if you want everything to run smoothly, you can't forget about cooperation and communication.
