How do you maintain a work-life balance?
03/09/2020Do you work more than 50 or 60 hours a week? Maybe more...? Are you under constant stress? How do you avoid feeling like you have endless duties to perform?
The answer is work-life balance. What exactly does this mean? To quote from the Cambridge dictionary it is: "the amount of time you spend doing work-related duties compared to the amount of time you spend with your family and doing things you enjoy."
We've compiled a list of useful tips to show you how to maintain a work-life balance:
Avoid perfectionism
Life is more complicated than we can imagine. Our careers are important, but we don't want to burn ourselves out at work. For this reason, we should aim to do everything as well as possible, but it shouldn't be debilitating. Making a list, planner or other reminders to keep track of your time is a good idea. Take 15 minutes a day to do this and plan something for yourself as well.
Enjoy moments in real life
We all know that various notifications distract us and usually cause stress. In fact, we should cut down on time eaters and avoid checking social media notifications every time we receive any. Instead, we should spend our time practicing our hobbies, starting a new course or training, or getting together with friends or family. It's recommended for our mental health that we separate our private and professional lives. Focus on the people, activities and things that bring you the most joy.
Set healthy boundaries
Real life and business matters are connected, but our privacy comes first. It's imperative to keep your boundaries flexible, as different things change every day. Remember to leave work at work, but if you happen to take your responsibilities home, just make a habit of working on them only in a designated place.
Work smarter, not harder
This is the last piece of advice for today, which we consider extremely important. Ask yourself now what are the most important duties you have to complete and do them first. Don't cut back on your sleep hours. Just focus on the key aspects of your day, and it will be easier to put them into practice.
The above methods are essential not only to maintain work-life balance, but also to improve your relationships with others. Just start doing it right now, for yourself...
You will never be fully satisfied with your work until you are satisfied with your life.
