Vacation as a way to express emotions and regenerate

07/16/2020

In today's post, he takes up a very interesting topic of rest. For many it is a nonsense issue as well as relaxation itself. Some also use the excuse that depicts rest as an unnecessary activity. Or in fact, "doing nothing-unnecessary." For some, the vision of rest is associated with a strong fear of unrealized tasks. Others, on the other hand, interpret rest as something that causes the to-do list to grow so much that at some point it becomes too much. And they treat it as if this situation would make the "world collapse." We want to be productive, so we underestimate leisure. A bit like a car engine. We want it to work efficiently, but we "pour" poor-quality, "baptized" fuel into it, or we run "on fumes". I do not expect such drivers to be satisfied with the car's achievements, nor do I bode well for tired people who work efficiently.

MAX LEVEL

Work, work, work … and work from home after work. After all, you have to vacuum a practically shiny floor 10 times, and you still have to go to the construction site for paint and repaint at least one wall. Okay, if I sit longer tonight, tomorrow I will be able to leave a little earlier and go to the other wall for paint. Of course, in the "breaks" in such a schedule, we do not rest. We are planning another clogging of it and we think about how tired we are. How many of you have such a pattern in your minds? Something's not right here. We work, we plan, we think about how tired we are. When do we really relax? The subject is entitled vacation, but I do not mean holidays in the classic sense. The next part of the title are the words "emotional expression and regeneration". Let's take this as an equation:

Expressing emotions + regeneration = vacation

Of course, there are other ways to achieve the components of this equation, such as dreaming or talking to a loved one. Let's take care of the vacation. In my opinion, the holiday should not be reserved only for the classic approach. Taking care of rest is an extremely important part, even necessary and obligatory part of our productivity.

Balance counts

Research clearly shows that there should be a healthy balance between work and leisure. The percentage of it is that we sleep 30% of our lives. We have 70% left, half of which should be reserved for relaxation. To be productive, we should spend about 30% of our time working. That's how we are constructed and that's it. If we disrupt this relationship, our work won't be productive, period.

Power of regeneration

So important, but so underrated. After all, it allows for easier focus, reflexes, and more adequate reactions. Making decisions and remembering new things is easier, problems with short-term memory are much smaller. This is confirmed by the results of a four-year study conducted by Giulio Tononi and Chiara Cirelli (University of Wisconsin-Madison).

Why is regeneration so important? Why does it help us operate more efficiently, better, faster, have more adequate reactions or reflexes? Why, that a tired mind works automatically - that is, without consciously, attentively perceiving stimuli and reacting. The brain then relies on our habits, which are not necessarily healthy or supportive.

Therefore, if you want change, in any area of your life, make sure you take some rest first. So to give your body the foundations for further work.
